We’re delighted to announce that JD Kirk, author of the DCI Jack Logan, DI Heather
Filson, and Robert Hoon series, has won the 2024 Amazon Kindle Storyteller Award
for his fifth Hoon novel, STATESIDE
This year, the award ceremony was held at the London Library, and hosted by DJ’s
Sara Cox and Vick Hope. Sarah and Vick were also on the judging panel, where they
were joined by last year’s winner, G.J Ogden, author and broadcaster Dreda Say
Mitchell, Karen Inglis from the Alliance of Independent Authors, and Jen Barrett and
Daren Hardy from Amazon.
The Kindle Storyteller Award celebrates independently published authors across all genres, and this wasn’t JD’s first time attending, having been shortlisted twice previously for books in the DCI Logan
series.
JD is the only author to have been shortlisted for the UK award more than once, and
it was ‘third time lucky’ when he picked up the award, following a long, Hoon-esque
journey from Scotland consisting of cancelled flights, missed trains, and getting stuck
in traffic!
On the night, JD said: “Wow, I’m blown away to have won the Kindle Storyteller
Award! With it being my third time shortlisted, I can safely say that the third time truly
is a charm. When I first tried self-publishing back in 2016, it completely changed my
life and took my literary career in a whole new direction, so it feels great to be
recognised for it. Stateside is the fifth book in what was originally planned to be a
trilogy, so here’s to the many more adventures of Robert Hoon.”
Huge congratulations to JD from all of us at Zertex Media, it’s a fantastic
achievement and highly deserved.
Just don’t tell Jack Logan…
